Florida is known as the Sunshine State – the southern tip of Florida is only 62 miles from the Tropic of Cancer giving it a real tropical climate. Florida has a great climate all-year round with an average annual temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit and 95% days of sunshine so you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor activities. The winters are mild and the summer very hot. The temperature chart below shows average temperature (both in Celsius and Fahrenheit) per month for the Tampa Bay area.

BEACHES

Of course most people come to Florida to enjoy the beautiful beaches. In this respect we are very fortunate because the Gulf Coast has many of the best beaches in America including the famous Clearwater Beach which has an amazing stretch of white sand. It’s Pier 60 has free entertainment each evening and activities for children. To find out more details click though to our beach guide.

Even closer to us we have the quieter beaches of Honeymoon Island, Sunset Beach, Caledesi Island and Fred Howard Park. Many local beaches have recently received top awards: Fodor’s Travel Publications, America’s largest travel publisher, named Clearwater Beach one of the East Coast’s 7 Best Family Beaches.

Clearwater Beach was referred to as a “a gem for families” with “gorgeous white sand, attentive lifeguards, shallow waters that are clear and warm, a pier, and plenty showers and restrooms.”

Expert Dr Beach names Caladesi Island as Best USA Beach 2008 (it was second in 2006 and 2007).

TripAdvisor’s 2009 list of the top ten beaches in the U.S. has Fort De Soto Park as best beach in the USA for the second consecutive year, while Honeymoon Island State Park ranked ninth.

Fred Howard Park and Beach (number 2 on map)

This 150-acre county park located west of Florida Avenue in Tarpon Springs features a mile-long causeway connecting the offshore swimming area and the mainland. The park is open 7 a.m. to sunset offering barbecue grills, sheltered pavilions, children’s playgrounds, public restrooms and beach showers. The area is popular for windsurfing and fishing. Sunset Beach (number 3 on map)

Located at the west end of Gulf Road in Tarpon Springs, is a favorite with locals for picnics, swimming and boat launching. It has barbecue grills, sheltered picnic tables, bicycle stands and public restrooms. Hours are from sunrise to 10 p.m.

Honeymoon Island (number 4 on map)

This state park features sunbathing, shelling, swimming, fishing, picnic pavilions, bathhouses and a park concession building. The Caladesi Island ferry departs from Honeymoon Island. Like Caladesi Island, Honeymoon Island is one of the state’s few undisturbed barrier islands. The Island also features two bird observation areas, a pet beach and two nature trails. Caladesi Island (number 5 on map)

Rated “No 1 beach in North America.” This award came in 2008. In 2006 and 2007 it was rated 2nd best beach in the USA.

To get to the 600 acre island you have to get a boat across so the island is free of traffic. The boat leaves from Honeymoon Island state park – also well worth a visit in it’s own right. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset.

There are dunes and a 3 mile stretch of sand which is so good you feel like you could be on a Pacific island. Rent an umbrella and two chairs for $20. Look for shells, hire a kayak or walk the 3 mile nature trail. Ferry leaves every 30 minutes from 10am. Link to official site for Caladesi Island

Clearwater Beach (number 6 on map)

This island is the most popular of all the area’s many beaches, especially with families. Clearwater Beach offers just about every water and beach activity imaginable. Pier 60 Park on Clearwater Beach features a family recreation complex on Clearwater’s expansive beach with covered playgrounds, fishing and concessions. The Sunsets at Pier 60 festival features music, entertainment and a beautiful Gulf of Mexico sunset throughout the year. Link to official site for Clearwater Beach.

Crystal Beach (not on map)

This is very close to our apartments. Although called Crystal Beach this isn’t the place to go with the children as there are plenty of big family-friendly beaches nearby – this is really just a spot to watch the sunset and the birds. There are benches and boats docked.

ANDERSON PARK

This is about a mile up the road and also gives access to Lake Tarpon. Well worth a visit as it is absolutely beautiful. Great covered picnic areas and plenty of restrooms.

TARPON SPRINGS

Just a mile up the road there is the town of Tarpon Springs, a renowned port famous for its Greek community diving for sponges.

DUNEDIN

We must also highlight the nearby town of Dunedin with it’s Scottish links. Dunedin is just north of Clearwater and has access to Honeymoon Island and Caledesi Island. It has a good marina with some tasty waterfront restaurants.

THEME PARKS IN ORLANDO

You are within easy reach of Disney World, Epcot Centre, Universal Studios, MGM Studios, Sea Life, and all the other attractions in Orlando. The drive is a very easy one as you take highway 4 all the way from Tampa towards Orlando and it takes about 90 minutes.

TAMPA

On your doorstep in Tampa, you also have a major theme park, Busch Gardens, famous for having the best rollercoasters in Florida. Tampa itself has all sorts of attractions from waterfront shopping, marinas, Lowry Park Zoo, museums, malls, sports and nightlife.

RESTAURANTS

Florida is renowned for good value, delicious food, usually served in large portions! Fine restaurants are plentiful, varying from elegantly simple to simply elegant. Menus include a wide selection from ethnic Italian, gourmet French, Japanese to “down home” barbecue or fresh fish caught daily.

There are some fantastic restaurants near to our apartments in Palm Harbor/Clearwater. The choice and variety is simply amazing. Within 5 miles miles we calculate there to be hundreds of restaurants.

So where to start – well here are some of our personal favourites (in no particular order):

Cody’s Roadhouse – Outstanding steaks and other dishes. Always good and great value for money. Take a right to go up US19 and it is about a mile on the left. FL39870 US19. Tel: 727 937 1022.

Olive Garden – Upmarket Italian food, amazing pastas. Go south on US19 for about 3 miles and it is on the left. 29461 US19. Tel: 727 787 3988.

Sweet Tomatoes – Very good salad buffet restaurant but enough other dishes to keep people not into salads happy. Go south on US19 and in approx. 2 miles it is on the left-hand side. 31151 US19. Tel: 727 786 2130.

Hiro’s Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse – Opt to go in the room where the chef cooks your food at the table in front of you, it is a great show. Take a right to go up US19 and it is about a mile on the left. 39522 US19. Tel: 727 943 8032.

Dennys – American diner. Very good for breakfast. Low-cost. Go north to New Port Richey.

Nana’s Restaurant – up to Klosterman Road on 19 north make left and it is a couple of hundred yards on the right. Cute and very traditional, small, plenty of locals. Open for breakfast (very good) and lunch.

SUPERMARKETS/GROCERIES

Numerous supermarkets (including Wal-Mart, Publix and Albertsons less than a mile away) as well as shops and malls (including Clearwater Mall) are also on your doorstep.

GOLF

The area is a haven for golf lovers. Less than half a mile away is world-famous Westin Innisbrook Resort which hosts a PGA tour event which attracts golfers such as Tiger Woods. Wentworth Golf club and the Lansbrook Golf course are also top courses but equally there are affordable public golf courses at which players of all standards can just turn up to play.

SPORTS

There are major sporting teams such as the SuperBowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays baseball team. You can also watch spring training for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Philadelphia Phillies.

SWIM WITH MANATEES

Swimming with Manatees in Crystal River in the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park has also been recommended by previous guests.

CINEMA

There is a 10-screen multiplex literally across the road.

MORE THINGS TO DO!

Nearby is the Pinellas Trail which is 47 miles long where you can walk, run, bike, jog, or rollerblade.

There are endless other activities for everyone such as great shopping,, water sports, scuba diving, snorkeling, museums (i.e. Salvador Dali in Tampa), art galleries, gambling at the Hardrock casino in Tampa, bowling, zoos, cruises, concerts, nightlife, parks, fishing, sailing, shelling, biking, gyms, tennis, racquetball, basketball, shuffleboard, horseriding, miniature golf, live theater, sightseeing, waterskiing, windsurfing, parasailing, jet skiing, rafting and swimming with Manatees or Dolphins.

We have priced the apartments as fairly as we can. If there are a few of you it just gets even better and better value when you divide the total by the number staying. Certainly it is much lower than staying in a hotel – but look at the advantages – your own home away from home where you can feel much more relaxed.

The prices are fully inclusive of all taxes. Please note that there is a discount of £35/$50 for each additional week you stay.

The apartment will be cleaned and made up before and after your stay.

CHECKING AVAILABILITY

The next step would be to check our availability calendar below. We do update this frequently but as we do have enquiries coming in all the time things can change fast, so do e-mail or phone us to check for the latest availability information.

Remember that we do have TWO apartments (one-bed + two-bed) this means that although we may be full for part of your desired stay we could always put you in one apartment and then move you into the other (they are virtually next to each other). Another option for odd days is the Best Western Hotel which is directly next door.

MAKING A BOOKING

To then go ahead and reserve the apartment we would require a deposit of £100/$150. This means that we block the space and tell anyone else that we are full at that time.

Eight weeks before departure we would require full payment (as above). We would then send you the keys and directions.

We would continue to hold the original £100/$150 deposit as a security deposit. This is refunded after your holiday, providing there is no damage caused.

Note that your initial holding deposit is non-refundable should you subsequently cancel your booking. Once you have made your full payment, this too is non-refundable, as it would be too late for us to rebook the apartment.

The apartments are fully furnished and air conditioned for your comfort. No pets or smoking please. Cable TV and free local telephone calls are included.

The big and exciting city of Tampa together with it’s International Airport is just 30 minutes away, with the major theme parks in Orlando only 90 minutes drive away.

Both apartments have recently been refurbished to a high standard to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. They come complete with all vital appliances (dishwasher, microwave etc.) and utensils together with Cable TV with over 80 channels, DVD player and telephone with free local calls.

Some of these have been voted in the top ten of all beaches in America – beating off competition from California and Hawaii!

WONDERFUL VIEWS

Our two-bedroom apartment is on the first-floor level up a very small flight of stairs. You are almost directly above our 1-bed apartment and there is nobody above you. You also have almost identical waterfront views of the lake from the balcony. You look out onto the decking and waters from Lake Tarpon, the second largest lake in the state of Florida.

WATCH THE SUN GO DOWN

The views are great, especially at night when the palms are all lit up and you will often spot storks and herons.

Down on the decking there is a lovely bench area where you can sit and relax

BBQ

By the bench we have a gas BBQ for your use.

SPACIOUS

The two-bed apartment is very large and comfortable, clean and above all safe. It is air-conditioned and family-friendly with high-chair and travel cot. The approximate size of the apartment is 1000 square feet.

FREE INTERNET

We have a phone with free local calls and an actual computer with free high-speed Internet. Alternatively bring your cellphone, laptop or other device and pick up our wireless signal. Having the free high-speed Internet is so handy for staying in touch with the world, checking the weather, checking your emails, looking up local information, playing CDs etc.

LIVING AREA

The living area is very comfortable with cathedral ceiling and a sofa for three and a separate sofa for two. The TV has free Cable TV with over 80 channels and we have a DVD player for movies (also plays CDs). The sofa pulls out to make a sofa-bed sleeping another two (the apartment can sleep a total of six).

DINING AREA

The dining area has a dining table with seating for four.

ASSIGNED PARKING SPACE

There is an assigned parking space just yards from the apartment, handy for getting the shopping in.

KITCHEN

The kitchen has all the obvious appliances and utensils you need for cooking i.e. cooker, microwave, pots, pans, cutlery, kettle, coffee-maker etc. There is also a dishwasher and refrigerator. In the hall is an iron and ironing board. For washing clothes you will find coin-operated industrial washer/dryers in the laundry room next to the swimming pool.

MASTER BEDROOM WITH ENSUITE BATHROOM

The master bedroom is very large with a king-size bed and plenty of wardrobes and drawers providing plenty of space to store all your belongings. Bedding is provided and a hairdryer.

There is an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. Towels are provided. The master bedroom has a small TV which also has the Cable TV with over 80 channels and the great thing is you can be watching a separate channel to the people watching the TV in the living-area.

SECOND BEDROOM

The second bedroom has twin beds, again there is plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space for your belongings. Just outside in the hallway is a second bathroom, again with bath and shower. Towels are provided.

STUNNING VIEWS

The one-bed apartment looks out onto the decking and waters from Lake Tarpon, the second largest lake in the state of Florida.

It is located at ground level with an allocated parking space almost right outside.

SPACIOUS

It is very spacious and has one bedroom with queen size bed. The apartment is comfortable, clean and above all safe. It is air-conditioned and family-friendly with high-chair and travel cot. The approximate size of the apartment is 800 square feet.

We have a phone with free local calls and an actual computer with free high-speed Internet. Alternatively bring your cellphone, laptop or other device and pick up our wireless signal. Having the free high-speed Internet is so handy for staying in touch with the world, checking the weather, checking your emails, looking up local information, playing CDs etc.

The living room and dining area have a superb view of the water of Lake Tarpon lapping at the decking. This is a major factor, not to be underestimated – we have had people who have stayed in both apartments and many prefer the one-bed. It is really a case of how many people are in your group as the two-bed is much more spacious and of course sleeps more. The view outside is fantastic especially at night when the palms are all lit up.

WATCH THE SUN GO DOWN

Patio doors in the living-area open up into the lanai – this is a large area with a table and chairs which although ‘outside’ is fully screened in to keep any insects out. It is a great place to sit out with a cool drink at sunset just enjoying the waterfront views.

When you go though the door in the lanai, you step directly onto the decking of the apartment complex and there is a bench right outside to sit on. Often you will see storks and herons right outside.

BBQ

By the bench we have a gas BBQ for your use.

LARGE LIVING AREA WITH CABLE TV

The large sofa bed in the living room enables you to sleep four with ease. The living room has a sofa for three and a separate sofa for two. The TV comes with free Cable TV with over 80 channels. We also have a VCR and DVD player for movies (it also will play CDs).

BEDROOM

The bedroom has a small TV which has also has the Cable TV and the great thing is you can be watching a separate channel to the people watching the TV in the living-area.

It also has a large wardrobe and lots of drawers providing plenty of space to store all your belongings. Bedding is provided and we have a hairdryer.

DINING AREA

The dining area has a dining table with seating for four.

We had a wonderful week and the weather was perfect – not as hot as the previous week in Fort Myers so quite a relief. We were made very welcome by Anne and nothing was too much trouble. Another lady – Alice was a great source of information and we had some lovely chats.

What a lovely area, which was our reason for returning and we shall be back and hope to rent one of your apartments again. We loved the little beach areas – Crystal and Sunset for just an hour or so of sea views and of course Clearwater.

Our favourite dinner restaurant was Codys Steakhouse, for the food value (great ribs) and great atmosphere even if it took us a few minutes to bring ourselves to throw the peanut shells on the floor! Longhorn Steakhouse was over-rated/overpriced and no atmosphere would not go back there.

We very much enjoyed our stay, the apartment itself was lovely, very comfortable and with great views across the water.

We enjoyed Tarpon Springs, it was particularly good on the Saturday with the market in the main street and the sightseeing boat trip from there was fun, we particularly enjoyed seeing the dolphins.

We also enjoyed Honeymoon Island, the beach was great and we picked up lots of shells.

We visited Busch Gardens, only 45 minutes from the apartment, along Hillsborough, and enjoyed two visits to the baseball, we had only booked one before we left but enjoyed it so much that we used the computer to book for a second game. We would recommend Cody’s just a couple of minutes drive north, we had a lovely meal there.

We all had a great holiday, enjoyed Cody’s as most of your guests seem to, and were recommended to visit restaurant Ozona Blue on Orange Road, off Alt 19 south, just before blue Pinettas Trail bridge. Very good food, pool and live music. Highly recommended.

Just returned from a fabulous 10 days in your apartment!

We had some good weather (apart from the odd thunderstorm in the afternoon – not really unexpected). The apartment had everything we needed to ensure that we had a home from home holiday and I must say that the beaches at Honeymoon and Caladasi Islands are the best I have ever visited. My husband took his fishing gear and was surprised how easily he caught Bluegill and Bass from the decking – the first fish was on his second cast! Sam June 2010.

Anderson Park is worth a visit, also Pasco County Nature Park & Anclote River Park, the wildlife was incredible at all of these parks.

1) What was your favourite place you visited?

Honeymoon Island beach. The most fantastic un-crowded sandy beach with great swimming in fairly shallow waters. The sun always seemed to shine there even though clouds and rain came and went half a mile inland! The beach bar/restaurant there was great/simple too – a great holiday feel.
Really liked Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks – a most surprising “Greek” find, with restaurants giving a really authentic Greek flavour, but with an American feel too – very large portions!

2) What was your favourite restaurants (or restaurants?)

Cody’s Roadhouse. This is a fantastic all American road-house diner. Really friendly, great atmosphere and ridiculously HUGE portions

3) Any handy tips to future visitors or recommendations of places to visit or see?

UK expectation of a “Wal-Mart” store is that it will be a great “everything” store – indeed this is the case in the massive superstores, but the one in Palm Beach (nearest I could find) does not fit this bill at all! It stocks limited dry food/provisions only as well as non-food products. Instead of taking a 15-minute trip to the next nearest Wal-Mart (a Superstore), just go to “Publix” in Tarpon Springs (only just over a mile from Lake Tarpon Villa’s). It’s really well stocked, and much easier for everyday food shopping.

1) What was your favourite place you visited? Clearwater Beach is clean and fun! Tarpon Springs and do a boat trip to see Mannatees and Dolphins, plus all the luxurious properties that stand on the waterline. Also enjoyed sitting on the boardwalk on a night time.

2) What was your favourite restaurants (or restaurants?) Crabbys Bar at Clearwater for good food and good value for money or Carrabas Italian Grill for something special.

3) Any handy tips to future visitors or recommendations of places to visit or see? Busch Gardens for some fun, Clearwater Beach in an evening for the vibe and the craft stalls on Pier 66. Honeymoon Island for the beach and relaxing! Use Publix Supermarket rather than Walmart locally as they have more choice.

The location was ideal for the area we wanted to explore and we found the apartment very well equipped and comfortable. If we ever holiday in this area again we would certainly check your availability before considering anything else.” Viv and Martin L. August 2009

Once again I have to say we had a fantastic holiday, thoroughly enjoying your apartment and it’s location.

1. Favourite place visited has to be Sunset Beach, an absolute must, a real jewel in the crown.

2. Our favourite restaurants were Smokey Bones located in the Clearwater mall, down US19 and Cody’s Roadhouse located up US19 towards Tarpon Springs. Both serve fantastic food with great atmospheres for all the family.

3. Recommend a trip to Tropicana Fields and watch a baseball game with the Tampa Bay Rays. Also recommend hiring a Jet-ski and taking the Tour option from Gulfside Watercraft Adventures, located in Clearwater harbour, just ask for Pauly.” Steve W. June 2009

We had a great time at your condo. We did something different every day. One activity that I would recommend is a drive about an hour north on Highway 19 to the Homossassa Springs Wildlife State Park. The Manatee there are a treat to see.

Our favourite place to eat was the Golden House Chinese buffet. The price for two people to eat is about $25. It can be found north on Highway 19 in New Port Richey. It had a lot of seafood dishes including snow crab as well as Chinese food. We also participated in the Easter pot-luck lunch at the pool. It was nice to meet other residents and visitors to the complex. Anne is a real asset to have around. The condo was spotless when we arrived. She also answered questions we had about the area.

“We had a lovely holiday and the apartment was just the base we needed.

The favourite place we visited was Honeymoon Island. Absolutely beautiful – walking, beaches, birds nesting – really, really lovely (although don’t get ripped off by the only shop on the island – take your own stuff with you! We got caught! Ouch!)

We had two favourite restaurants, both local to the apartment. The Waffle House for breakfast is a right laugh, really friendly staff, great food and good value. We since understand that it has a bit of a ‘greasy spoon’ image, but we speak as we find – and we thought it was brill!

The other place for wonderful, really good value, healthy, evening meals was the Sweet Tomato. All you can eat salad, pasta, drink, soup, pastries and more for just $10 per adult. Lower prices for children!

As for advice:

Be careful about what you buy – everything is NOT really cheap in America anymore because the exchange rate has plummeted. So things that were a good deal even a year ago may not be now.

If you have bad weather (which we had lots of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) don’t waste your money on the Tampa aquarium, it’s a waste of money for what it is, but the Dali Museum in St Pete’s is brilliant!

We love to go to the Oldsmar Flea Market on Saturdays and Sundays. They have wonderful fruit and veg. stands and just about anything you can think of for sale. We also like to go to Clearwater Pier at Sunset where they have a festival type atmosphere. And who doesn’t love Busch Gardens? Love the animals!

We absolutely loved Honeymoon Island, it was so peaceful and the beach was beautiful, one word of warning though if you go in the off season and want to do the kayak tour then make sure you go in the morning as they do not rent the kayaks out in the afternoon! Also the last boat back to Caladesi was 4pm so if you want a long time there deffo go in the morning!

We loved the Greek Pizza Kitchen in Tarpon, we were looking at the menu on the door and a very friendly local woman (having said that all were friendly) said that her daughter comes out from Clearwater to get the takeaways as it was so lovely. Indeed it was, we had a takeaway and ate in (on seperate nights!) and all was excellent and the staff were very nice.

We also had breakfast just round the corner from the Greek Pizza Kitchen at the Trail Side Cafe, situated opposite the old train station next to the Pinellas Cycle Trail. The pancakes and Belgian waffles are to die for and the burgers are all home made.

A handy tip for visitors to the apartment who want to fish. Go to Walmart, get a cheap 5 ft rod and all the tackle you need for around $16. Use the crust off a french stick as bait and then reel in the catfish !!! Superb !!!!

We went into Dunedin a couple of times, we hit it just right on one Sunday as there was a fair with all local crafts and produce which I would certainly recommend anyone going to if they time it right!

However the best day out was Homosassa Springs State Park, my husband had adopted me a manatee there so we went to see her. The park itself is small and non commercialised and all the staff are volunteers and so are very enthusiastic and have alot of knowledge. There are other animals in the park but it is definitely centred around the manatees which were lovely to see, the park is only cheap to get in so if you could put this in the visitors suggestion book it would be nice as I think they rely alot on the entrance fees and any donations!

I think that is about all, but we think you have a lovely apartment and as said before we will be back next year!

I would like to say we both enjoyed our holiday (we have been in the area before) but the spacious apartment and all the facilities available made the experience all the more comfortable and enjoyable.

We found a couple of restaurants which were good for breakfast – Bob Evans a couple of miles south on 19 from the apartment. Nan’s Diner – up to Klosterman Road on 19 north make left and it is a couple of hundred yards on the right (little home from home). But like all Americans they can’t make a decent cup of tea (stick to the coffee).” Trevor C. September 2008

Our overall best place was Universal Studios, Orlando, but we also loved Clearwater and our teenagers went absolutley crazy over ‘Sheikra’ at Busch Gardens.

Favourite restaurants were Longhorn Steakhouse, Carreberas & Shells at Clearwater.

Prime Outlets mall near Universal Orlando great for shopping, Dunedin town has a really fun gift shop & a good cafe (Cafe Alfresco).

We found the 1 bed apartment was big enough for 4 of us and loved just being able to walk out onto the boardwalk and go wildlife spotting literally on the doorsteop! We saw Dolphins off Clearwater beach on 2 seperate occassions. Internet connection was very useful. We had a really packed 2 weeks and ran out of time to do everything on our list.

“Caldesi Island go early while it is really quiet in the morning on first ferry, the thriller speedboat ride is very good it takes you out for miles, passed Honeymoon Island and the kids (and adults) get to drive the boat, keep out of the right lane on Highway 19, dont bother with Walmart on I19 as it doesn’t sell fruit, the alternative I19 is a much more pleasurable way of getting to the apartment and less stressfull than Highway 19. Wear loads of insect repelant if you visit Honemoon Island on the Osprey trail. Worth a trip on Lake Tarpon to see the sea eagles and their nest.”

“Thank you for letting us use your apartment. we had a wonderful holiday and decided apartments are better than motels, so if we visit Florida again we shall be checking your availability. We found the apartment had everything we needed and we particularly liked being on the ground floor so we could go straight on to the decking. We found all the residents to be very friendly and we had a fantastic holiday.

“We have just spent a week at this apartment. It is part of a very nice residence with much wildlife right on your door step. The pool is lovely too, surrounded by palm trees and a very hot hot tub which I am sure is perfect for the cooler winter months! The location is good with a choice of beaches and many restaurants too chose from. As with most of the states you do need to have a car to get around.

We had a good meal at Cody’s Roadhouse just a couple of miles north on Highway 19, traditional american fare, it can get quite loud! But a that’s all part of the experience. The portions are big, and we would recommend the tossed side salad, all so large and refillable! Don’t be afraid to ask for a take out if you’re on a budget. Everyone does it!

The best value healthy option has to be Sweet Tomatoes, eat as much as you like buffet. We went for lunch and the bill was under £11! $22…..I don’t know how they do it.

Have a great holiday, if you don’t like crowds avoid Clearwater Beach at the weekend!

“I’m sure people will already have recommended the following but I know that Honeymoon Island has recently had work done and the beaches now are gorgeous. For a break from the beach we walked the Nature Trail one day and the kids loved the ospreys and the tortoises (we saw five in the short walk!).”

“Codeys is great for good value home cooking and the portions are huge (kids shared a chocolate cake for dessert one night and we took the leftovers home in a doggy bag and four of us ate it at lunch the next day).”

“We are daily visitors to Honeymoon Island Beach. Entrance is only 5 dollars and it is an extensive state run beautiful beach with great facilities. Very peaceful during the week and a real chill out only a pleasant 20 minute drive.”

“All of the restaurants on the I19 are very good. Favourites would be Cody’s Road House at Tarpon Ave. Sam Seltzers for great steak’s, Applebees for good food and a lively atmosphere, Ruby Tuesday’s at Country Side Mall great salad bar.”

Any handy tips to future visitors or recommendations of places to visit or see?

“Try to avoid the I19 at rush hour as it can be a bit daunting. Try to hire a larger type vehicle as you feel more secure. Places to visit were Countryside Mall on the I19 and Tampa Mall beside the airport on Spruce Street. TJ Maxx is fabulous ladies for designer bargains! Watch the sunset at Howard Johnston Park it’s fabulous just 10 minutes away. Visit Tarpon Springs village, sponge docks and Greek restaurants, lovely little harbour and good atmosphere.”

Any further tips and hints you could think of?

“Just chill out and enjoy the great accomodation avail yourself to the boardwalk and pool and enjoy, it’s not hard at this great spot.”

We had a wonderful holiday, thank you. The appartment was just what we wanted.The regular visits on the deck from Herons, Egrets, Osprey and Turtles kept us fascinated.

A very nice area with tons to do and lots of places to eat. Would recommend a visit to the Florida Botanic Gardens and the Heritage Museum in St Petes – free!! and both on same site.

Buddy Freddies and Coadys excellent for food.

We will certainly recommend to friends and relatives.
